Housing: Blatta Lateralis are classified as non climbers so any completely smooth sided container will work.. Glass aquariums and smooth sided plastic boxes are suitable. I have found that babies can climb the silicone seals on aquariums so I do use either a Vasaline or Bug Stop barrier at the top of the containers as a precaution.
Food: These insects are not picky eaters and will consume almost anything. There are several options for a base diet, including commercial cricket diets, chicken feed, and dry dog food. Grains, cereals, fruits and vegetables are also accepted.
Water: Damp paper towels, damp sponges, potatoes, or carrots are acceptable sources of water.
Temperatures: Blatta Lateralis will survive at a wide range of temperatures. Temperatures of 70 to 85 degrees are optimal. At the low end of this range they grow at a very slow rate. You can take this into consideration if you need to maintain a supply of a feeders that are a specific size.
